About this Blog

Hello fellow would-be authors. I've created this blog for me just as much as you. I've wanted to be a fiction writer for a long time now, but never seem to finish anything. There always is an excuse about time or an inner voice that says, "You're not good enough". So, this is a place where I'd like to help you and me gain that confidence we need.

Let's start by getting to know each other. I'm a senior in college studying English (bet you couldn't guess that). I've taken Creative Writing and Fiction Writing classes, which have given me the essential tools to build clearer characters and plots. I tend to lean towards a preference in the fantasy genre. I also add a touch of romance to the mix. When I was in my early teens I was obsessed with the Night World series by LJ Smith (which I still enjoy to this day). Ever since, she's been a great inspiration to my writing. I also enjoy the Twilight series and The Host. Stephenie Meyer is really good at details, which I need to work on.

Books and movies can touch our inner souls. What's amazing is that the same story can speak to people differently. My mission in life is to write a book that can speak to someone and allow them to see a side of themselves and/or the world that they never had before. Why do you want to write?

Favorite Writing Blogs

The top 100 writing blogs can be found here. I have chosen three to comment on in this post.

The first one is Backstory. This is a great blog because it has multiple viewpoints about writing. It gives successful stories about actually being published. This can be used for a "boost" when we dreamers get discouraged about our attempts. If they can do it we can do it.

Write Anything isn't just for writers but for anyone who loves writing, let that be your own or reading that of others. Yet again, this is a mixture of responses to give many views about the written word. What I love most about it is that there are descriptions of writing jobs. This is very informative to English majors. The blog is welcoming, with the invitation to join them in discussion.

Anybody want to get your name out there for your writing? I know I would. Creative Writing Contests keeps you updated on opportunities to compete against other writers. All the details are here to win some cash. Good luck.
